September 2012

(...last month we were...)

Reading: Not reading much other than the daily newspaper

Watching: standard shit

Class Projects: Science channel shows, Warehouse 13, Dr. Who soon

movies together: nada

Shit I watch alone: So I'm checking out this chick movie on LMN; it's "viewer's choice" night, so we don't know what the movie actually is. But I can tell that the lead woman is Claire Forliani from 1995's Mallrats. Turns out I was right (thank you internet); it was the 2007 movie "Carolina Moon", and Claire is still almost as hot as ever. She's about to turn 40; I guess I like old chicks now...On IFC, the show "Bullet In The Face" was okay (6 episodes)...Ridiculousness on MTV...I want to see the movie "REC" from 2007!..Also; "Cannibal Holocaust" looks interesting...

Comedians: Amy Schumer "Mostly Sex Stuff" (again?),

Crappy cable movies: "The Girl Next Door",

Play it Again's: Kalifornia, Natural Born Killers,

Watching and Hearing: Silversun Pickups on Conan

Now with faster than dial-up internet; Youtubing: all the usuals.

Hearing: my stack has not changed since last month.

New on the radio; Yeah, so I heard a Macy's commercial, advertising new Levi's jeans for $45, AS IF this was a bargain or something. If I see ANY of you paying $45 (or more) for a pair of blue jeans, I am going to punch you in the mouth. You've been warned...

Musical Purchases this month from the Tom Tucker discount wall at Skip's Records And CDWorld; my future place of employment, and permanent Barbie Dream Home: nothing

Out and About: In AND Out; I'm averaging the extended version of the Cure's "Fascination Street" about 5 times per day

Singing: "Last Rays of the Sun"--Caviar, "Abracadabra"--Steve Miller, lots of NIN, "Chemistry" + "Passage To Bangkok"--RUSH, "Paralyzer"--Finger Eleven, "Buddy Holly"--Weezer, "You Shook Me"--Led Zeppelin, "Dream On"--Depeche Mode, "Mayonaise"--Smashing Pumpkins, "Time Bomb"--Rancid, "True Colors"--Cyndi Lauper,

What I want today: I want to kill so many people; this is going to take YEARS!

New stuff this month or so: John-Michael Liles is the Colorado Avalanche calender guy...Crop circles in eastern Oregon have some people excited... India's power grid failed; millions without power...We had a blue moon at the end of August; woo.

This Month of bargain-shopping (Dollar Tree, Cash King, Big Lots, etc.): lots of junk for Trivia Tuesday give-a-ways...

Occupational Hazards: You do know that I get to play Pole Position at my job, right?..

Personal shit for my own memory banks this month: late last month; I got a new pair of Response Gear "Patrolman" boots...8-1-12; broke my right headlight "aimer" on the new van. But I rigged it up good now...8-5-12; the biggest gardening purchase of my life...8-6-12; the sliding door on my new van jammed up--like the same door on my old van (and the door eventually broke). But THIS time I traced the stuck part, and now I see how it works; I think it will be ok...WD40 appears to have fixed my Magic Bullet, as well. I'm getting lucky with fix-its so far this month...8-11-12; first exercise walk in months! Sick girlfriend came, too...8-12-12; I was the first person out of my own poker tournament--boo...8-14-12; 2 hours in the dentist' chair (again) today; something like 10 cavities in 3 teeth. Great. Massive pain, and still no pain pills. And then no microphone for Tuesday Trivia--so I had to yell. In pain. Kill me now...If I can tell that my arms are bigger now, then other people must be able to see--never mind...One more dental check-in, and now my top teeth are smile-worthy. I did not know that I would ever have this again. I am very lucky...Since 8-11, my new exercise walks are just the 3 lb. weights on my ankles, and just the 15 lb. weights in my hands (less weight than that crazy crap I WAS doing). But I have been doing more hammer curls on the walks; I am now up to hammer curls for HALF of the walks now. That's probably more than 200 hammer curls per arm, which is pretty amazing...I'm going to adjust my old leg weights to 4 lb.s, and carry 18 lb.s in each hand--because I'm just totally insane now!

Pinball and Golden Tee stuff: Lots of pinball this month...I won Pingolf (by 19 strokes) during the Whitaker Block Party, Saturday 8-4-12. Woo. But never mind that; Twilight Zone pinball is back, baby!..8-8-12 pinball league/tournament; Twilight Zone was improved upon by 3 different techs, and made extremely loud (sweet). Plus; it was added to our list of games tonight! I did not get to play it in competeion (boo). However; I came in 3rd tonight, and did better than Andy and Joe (the other top players), so I am still leading pinball league! Go me!..Did you know that the Twilight Zone pinball machine's backglass is my computer wallpaper, and has been for years? Well--it is! And I have the only recorded score so far on Twilight Zone (500 mil is the minimum), at 536 mil...8-15-12; league night/pinball tournament: I won it, baby! I'm the only 3-time winner so far!..8-16-12; pre-Blues Jam pinball: the new high score on Big Game is my 2.3 mil (old was 1.6)...8-18-12; Northwest Oh-Pin; I came in 8th place and won $50. Woo...Andy is on fire; he has 6 mil on Medusa pinball, and 780 mil on Twilight Zone. Great job for him!..On another buy for the arcade; Centaur pinball will be ready before September (no it won't). And an old Trident cabinet was purchased (I learned pinball on Trident). Unfortunately; to make room for Centaur, Twilight Zone pinball is off the floor...Supposedly our Flash pinball (the other one I learned pinball on) is at the CD/Game Exchange in downtown Eugene...8-25-12; warm-up game of Medusa pinball: 3.7 mil, and 8 credits...New current high score on Banzai Run pinball is my 8.2 mil (old was 4.8 mil)...8-27-12; Twilight Zone is back; Centaur is going to wait.

Grammar: More radio commercials; a local jeweler here beckons for you to; 'Get an engagement ring that shines as bright as her'. Now; I count at least 2 grammatical errors in that sentence--but there could be more!

New foods this month: Girlfriend made some more soup, and it was good; now it's gone. Buh-bye...

This month of Blues Jamming: 8-2-12; Full Moon Blues Jam outside! set 1 (I missed) was Z-Bass, Brian C. on 1 guitar, Mark the Harp, Jimmy D drums, Mike on Conga drums. 2 was Russ W. bass, Morgan + Brian C. guitars, Fiddler Bob, Jay drums. What a night!..8-9-12; My Birthday Blues Jam outside! 1 was Z-Bass, Ra on 1 guitar, Mark the Harp, JP, Jimmy D drums. 2 was Z-Bass, Morgan, Ra + Ken P on 3 guitars, Markt the Harp, Fiddler Bob, Mike congas, Val sang (9 people on stage at one point). 3 was Dave bass, Kevin guitar, Jay drums, Mike congas, I was drunk. 4 was Jason bass, Tim + KK on guitars, JP, Axel drums. Mike congas. I didn't puke...8-16-12 (outside); saw the whole thing, and I took great notes--then lost them. Sorry. Nobody helps me with this shit, so fuck you...Okay; and then I found my notes--sorry I cussed all of you out (not really): 1 was Z-Bass, RJ Herb + Ra on guitars, M the H, JP, Jimmy D drums. Darcy sang a couple. 2 was Russ W. bass, Morgan + Max guitars, Mike congas, (virgin) Paul on harp, Lenny P drums. Darcy sang more. 3 was Z-Bass, KK + Ra guitars, M the H early, Dan drums (who?). 4 was Z-Bass, Max + Ra guitars, JP, Jimmy D drums...8-23-12 outside: I arrived at 9:30 pm. 1 was Z-Bass, Raon 1 guitar, Mark the Harp, Val sang a couple. Jimmy D drums. 2 was Russ W bass, Jimmy B + Ra on guitras, Fiddler Bob, Val sang a couple, Lenny P drums. 3 was "Pulse"; that's Dave Cooper on bass, Kevin on guitar, and Jay drums (check them out on reverbnation). 4 was Jason bass, Max + Tim guitars, JP, Jimmy D drums. Axel, and many other musicians were there, but didn't get to play. Oh well...8-30-12; almost blue moon Blues jam! Derek and I started at Blairally together, then to the O/T for: 1 was Z-Bass, Ra on 1 guitar, Mark the Harp, JP, Jimmy D drums. 2 was Z-Bass, Morgan + Ra guitars, Greg drums (then got kicked out), Jimmy D finished drumming. Val sings a couple. 3 was Z-Bass, Morgan + Ra guitars, JP, Lenny P drums. 4 was Jason bass, Max + Ra guitars, Jimmy D drums. Very nice!

My trials and trib.s as a critical believer in the concept of God: God is waiting patiently for football season...

What's different here than in college town: The University of Oregon has the 7th highest social media presence of any university...New spider! In some caves of Grants Pass Oregon we have a new spider "Trogloraptor" (Latin for cave-robber), because they have feaqrsome front claws! Oregon is cool!..For the Oregon Fair and such; Heart, Eddie Money, and Weird Al all played up here...ZZ top and Styx are playing close, too...

What's different here than dumbass Arizona: OSU is a top "Best Buy" school; as in, you get the most for your money there...‘Pregnancy Begins 2 Weeks Before Conception’ Now The Law In Arizona (April 13, 2012)...

How Does Your Garden Grow? (Tales from our community garden plot): Huge cucumbers, tons of tomatoes (our Indigo Rose tomatoes were invented at OSU), zucchinis are coming along, too (8-7-12)...On my birthday, I picked cucumbers and some small tomatoes for our 'fridge...Our tomato webs are beautiful...

Life with Static Girl: While I was winning Pingolf on 8-4, she was at home putting new blue fishies in the bathtub (non-slip), and folding my laundry (wow)...My poor baby got sick on 8-5-12. I feel so bad for her--wish I could take some of her discomfort onto myself; she deserves better...If I could advertise her, it would go like this: I would stand beside her, and say 'Look at this hair; it's either down, or it's up in a ponytail, or it's all shaved off. There is no 'hairstyle'; never was, never will.' Under her hair; 'See this neck; it has never had any perfume on it--she has never bought any perfume, ever. She has tried free samples of Mary Kay floral extracts, but that is all.' To her face; 'This face has not had any make-up of any kind on it since before 1997. No colors, and no textures. She tried it, in her early 20's, and decided that make-up is dumb.' Hold up one of her hands; 'These 20 nails have never had any colors on them, and no 'clear-coat' of any kind. Nothing.' To her outfit; 'Her clothes are dressed down and comfortable--usually denim. To dress up, she wears gorgeous black jeans.' Point to her shoes; 'Her pretty feet have never worn high heels, or even worn girlie shoes of any kind. I think she has one pair of horse-riding boots that have an inch-high heel, but that's about it.'...First time, ever! She actually came downstairs after she had gone to bed. This was during the (first) time she was sick; Sunday night, 8-13-12. She needed more cough syrup, so she came down and got some. It is the FIRST time in living with her since 2000 that she purposely went further than the bathroom, from her room, after going to bed. Wow...8-18-12 Saturday; I had to go work/play in a pinball tournament for more than 14 hours. When I got home, she had left me a note (uh-oh). She THANKED me for all of her alone time, and hoped I had a good day, as well. How many women would THANK their man for ignoring them for 14 hours? My girlfriend is the best!..

My FCP has this for me: She sent me birthday wishes!..

Comments From The Peanut Gallery: Hundreds of thousands of fish are dying in the midwest; drought, heat, etc...Lance Armstrong finally admitted to steroid abuse; Roger Clemens is trying for a minor league pitching comeback...Samsung owes Apple $1 billion...

What's different here than in college town: On Sunday 9-2-12, while driving to my poker tournament, 2 guys were waving signs on the street for a mattress business. The guys were standing at the edge of an empty parking lot--in front of a locked building, because that mattress business is not open on Sundays. Oregon Bumper Stickers: I saw a couple, but can't remember them.

How Does Your Garden Grow? (Tales from our community garden plot): sweet potatoes! We grew some--I don't know how many, but they're pretty cool...We have 15-20 lbs. of tomatoes to eat. I bought a head of iceberg lettuce to make dumb night (but healthy) salads for myself...Sick of the crap tools at the garden, she bought us a great new big green fork to dig with. We went and planted lots of garlic on 10-13-12...The new green fork works great; wish I hadn't messed my left shoulder up so bad (10-20-12)...10-26-12; I cleared out the rest of Tomato Island for Winter...10-28-12; some of our garlic is growing!...

Life with Static Girl: I would not trade her for anything!..Called my girl at work, was transferred to her, then I got hung up on. Did she do that? Called back, and she did NOT do that. Anyway; it all worked out...A difference between Static Girl and me; she would spend an extra $20 just to NOT have to talk to anybody on the phone about the dumb phone bill. But me? I am happy to spend 2 hours on 3 different phone calls just to save $10 on the same dumb phone bill. See the difference?..

My FCP has this for me: Her birthday is mid-October. I send her hugs and devious thoughts!..

Comments From The Peanut Gallery: "Iceland’s Economy now growing faster than the U.S. and EU after arresting corrupt bankers"...By: From the Trenches"Physicists may have evidence that the universe is a computer simulation."...

A thought to take with you: Iceland arrested their corrupt bankers. We have not arrested one here. Why?

"Intellectual confusion is the hallmark of our culture. It was planned, it's not accidental."--John Meyer

December 2012

(...last month we were...)

Reading: I read the Men's Health Girl Next Door "50 Things Women Wished Men Knew", and I feel smarter...

Watching: ehhh

Class Projects: the Castle marathon on TNT, Oregon Art Beat/Field Guide, Mythbusters,

movies together: nuthin

Shit I watch alone: Walking Dead is dumb, but most of my American Horror Story Asylum is weak, too (but I like it); so don't listen to me...Key and Peele is hilarious!..I like Doomsday Preppers on NatGeo...

Comedians: Matt Braunger "Shovel Fighter", Lewis Black "In God We Rust", Chris Hardwick "Mandroid", Kyle Kinane "Whiskey Icarus"

Crappy cable movies: Dark Ride, From Within (was pretty good), Doghouse, Exorcismus, Texas Chainsaw Massacre III from 1990,

Play it Again's: New World Order,

Watching and Hearing: Is that Jane Jensen voice-overing the new T-Mobil 4G commercials? (no, it's Carly Foulkes)...Everything that Bill Burr has ever done. He is so funny!..

Now with faster than dial-up internet; Youtubing: lots of Tool. Lots.

Hearing:

New on the radio; who cares?

Musical Purchases this month from the Tom Tucker discount wall at Skip's Records And CDWorld; my future place of employment, and permanent Barbie Dream Home: nope

Out and About: 311 at Carl's Jr,

Singing: "When Doves Cry"--Prince, "Starlight"--Muse, "Like A Virgin" and "Like A Prayer"--Madonna (please make them stop), "Too Close"--Alex Clare, "Bohemian Rhapsody"--Queen, "Forty Six & 2" and "Sober"--Tool

What I want today: for my left shoulder to stop hurting (11-13-12), and to get BACK the high score on Black Hole pinball!..11-18-12 update; I want to CUT OFF my left arm AT THE SHOULDER, and then kill everybody with a higher score than mine on Black Hole pinball. I'm not selfish, or pissy, at all...

New stuff this month or so: Last month or so; the "poker genius" feature on Zynga poker is very beneficial, and it's been up since some time in October, 2012...A survey found that (of the 3) there is more money spent on marijuana in Oregon than in Colorado or Washington state (duh)...Brooklyn has a basketball team...11-16-12; Death to Twinkies!..The Powerball jackpot is up to $425 million...11-28-12; isn't there an Oak Street comedy show? I didn't go...

This Month of bargain-shopping (Dollar Tree, Cash King, Big Lots, etc.):

Occupational Hazards: 11-8-12; Black Hole pinball comes to the arcade...11-9-12; Pole Position went down. I am sad...11-10? Solar Fire pinball comes to the arcade...11-12; Comet pinball comes to the arcade...11-20-12; there is now a full working Defender video game (VG) in the workshop. Sweeet...11-30-12; Defender comes to the arcade!..

Personal shit for my own memory banks this month: 11-4-12; after making $100 at poker, I (drunkenly) lost my money/ID. It is time for a change. Good luck to the rest of you...If I named my new van "Danger Cart", would anybody get the joke?..11-14-12; I cleaned 7 toilets today; go me!..11-16-12; I have an idea for a dream-porn Sweet Suite that could be really cool...11-17-12; finally got my title for the new van!..11-18-12; I was in a 3-way split at my poker tournament, then won the cash game outright, and landed another $20 (Why can't it always be this easy?). But I am tired of being used and not paid for my services; things are about to change...I can whine with the best of the whiners, about all that needs to change. But it starts with me...So I started! 11-25-12; came in 5th at poker--no $. But I didn't act too foolish today...11-26-12; first day of "The New Me". I got up + got going. Grocery, laundry, exercise walk (hammer curls are still possible). Rearranged the CD's on my desk; most are gone, and all 4 Tool CD's are back on top! While cooking dinner, we found the new kitchen crisis; (had to figure out that) 1 of the water bottles in the kitchen closet cracked open, and spilled a 1/2 gallon of water in the kitchen closet. I dried, then cleaned the mess. Pretty impressive...11-27; day 2 of New Me. A little sore. Opened the arcade, went shopping for them, then came home to cook dinner, do more laundry and another exercise walk. I think my left arm/shoulder is moving further now--wouldn't that be nice? Stick around for day 3...Day 3 was a bit weaker; hard to get out of bed, but I did. After opening the arcade, I came home and did indoor exercise; girl push-ups (20), squats (30), and exercise ball sit-ups (50). 2 circuits, and my shoulders hurt! It's not as strenuous a workout as the full walk, but it is more complete--plus my gut needs the sit-ups...Days 4 + 5 (11-30), inside workouts because of the rain.

Pinball and Golden Tee stuff: Halloween pinball tournament; 9 people, and I tied with Derek for 2nd place (Andy was 1st again). We're going to have to move to a 'best-2-out-of-3' format if the standings are to count...11-7-12 Pinball Knights! (best-2-out-of-3 format) Andy took 1st, I was 2nd, Kevin was 3rd...11-10-12; the new high score on Black Hole pinball (mine) is 417 K...11-11-12 Veterans Day: 56,810 (new high score) on Pole Position--come and beat that! (Pole Position was down for 2 days, but is back now.)...Andy has now broken 1 million on Black Hole at least 2wice, and I have not yet. Boo...11-14-12; Weekly; "The Best $5 Pinball Tournament Ever" (Can you tell that I named it?); I was out quick! Kevin won it, Gavin 2nd, Will 3rd. I could always name it "Danger Cart Pinball"...11-21-12 Wednesday weekly: The Best $5 Pinball Tournament Ever--Thanksgiving edition. Sam V R is back in town, and Sam won it! I came in 2nd place, and Becky was 3rd! (that's Becky's best finish yet)...475K is my new high score on Black Hole pinball (weak), but I got my first 3-ball multi-ball...11-28-12 Best $5 Pinball Tourney Ever! Just 6 of us--nice! I won it, Andy was 2nd, Kevin 3rd...

Grammar: After the Patriots crushed the Jets 49-19 on Thanksgiving, the next-day paper had a picture of Pat's safety Steve Gregory with one of his three recoveries. The caption said "Steve Gregory is tackled after intercepting a pass during the first half by New York's Bilal Powell of the Patriots 49-19 victory." Okay; did Bilal Powell throw the interception? And 'Bilal Powell of the Patriots' sounds like Bilal is a Patriot; no? Why reposition those 4 prepositional phrases so poorly? Watch this, you news pussies: "Steve Gregory is tackled BY New York's Bilal Powell AFTER intercepting a pass DURING the first half OF the Patriots 49-19 victory." Is this really rocket surgery?..

New foods this month: 11-26-12; french iron-skillet (New Me) fried potatos (while drying/cleaning the kitchen closet). Yum, and NO leftovers!..

This month of Blues Jamming: 11-1-12; set 1 (I missed) Z-Bass, Ra on 1 guitar, M the H, JP, Jimmy D drums. 2 was Z-Bass, Ra again, Val sings, JP, Lenny P drums. 3 was Z-Bass, some guy + Ra guitars, Alegria washboard, Jimmy D drums. 4 was Z-Bass, Max + Ra guitars, JP, Jimmy D drums...11-8-12; set 1 Z-Bass, Ra on 1 guitar, M the H, Jimmy D drums. 2 was Z-Bass, KK + Ra guitars, JP late, Jimmy D drums. 3 was Z-Bass, Max + KK guitars, JP, Jimmy D drums. Horn Boy (Jeff) shows! 4 was Jason bass, Max + TRE guitars, JP, Jimmy D drums. Horn Boy was in and out...11-15-12; I was pissy, and decided to not go out. Fuck all of you...11-22-12; I don't even know IF there was a Thanksgiving Blues Jam...11-29-12; who cares anymore? There was also another comedy show I didn't go to. So?

My trials and trib.s as a critical believer in the concept of God:

What's different here than in college town: Our Lane County Jail is cutting 35 more jail beds (inmates go free), and dropping 6 more sherriff's deputy jobs--all for budget cuts...

What's different here than dumbass Arizona: Continuing; so on Thursday 11-29-12, 32 inmates walked out of the Lane County jail. Newly freed convict Christopher Weaver was robbing a bank LESS THAN ONE HOUR LATER! And he's back behind bars. Another inmate freed on Thursday, Steven Berry, at least waited until Friday to possess meth, criminal trespass, violate parole, and start breaking into cars again. He's back in jail, too...

How Does Your Garden Grow? (Tales from our community garden plot): We're just trying to get ready for Winter...

Life with Static Girl: I finally bought her a Bell bell for her bike. And; Fred Meyer has some really good gel bike seats for me. Hmmm...She got so sick of hearing my snooze button that she stole my alarm clock. Bummer...With Static Girl's help, I have adopted another turkey; "Skip". As in; 'skip the turkey'...

My FCP has this for me: She is on a fitness-quest. Going crazy with exercise, and making her fine little body look amazing. She's doing this all for me, by the way...

Comments From The Peanut Gallery: After Sandy, some New Yorkers were waiting in line 6 hours for gasoline. Ha...

A thought to take with you: Sometimes it takes a really expensive lesson to learn something.--W C Davis

January 2013

(...last month we were...)

Reading: please.

Watching: does it matter?

Crappy cable movies: Mulberry Street (rats),

Play it Again's: Richard Pryor live in concert,

Watching and Hearing: ESPN promo with John Clayton wearing a Slayer shirt; nice...My favorite Christmas commercial is the Adam + Eve one with all the naked girls...

Now with faster than dial-up internet; Youtubing: lots of Tool.

Hearing: even more Tool.

New on the radio; no new Tool.

Musical Purchases this month from the Tom Tucker discount wall at Skip's Records And CDWorld; my future place of employment, and permanent Barbie Dream Home: nothing

Out and About: I don't even listen anymore.

This Month of bargain-shopping (Dollar Tree, Cash King, Big Lots, etc.):

Occupational Hazards: I like being the janitor, I guess. I also like Tuesday 80's Trivia, and Wednesday Pinball Knights (I run both), I guess...

Personal shit for my own memory banks this month: 12-2-12; something red is growing on my neck; I'm calling it a radio-active spider bite...The "New Me" will not last forever; I know this. You know this, too. As the new pains in my left shoulder (from exercise?) continue, I must take breaks. Plus I got pissy on 12-4 and threw a small fit. I exercise some, but not everyday. Get over it, life...I was already getting old when Coldplay's "Yellow" came out in 2000. Now in 2012 I'm hearing "Yellow" on the oldies station; so I am officially old-as-dirt...12-5-12; won all 3 rounds of poker genius for the first time ever! Wrap around 4:20 (am)...12-7-12; my new van wouldn't start. I panicked, but then troubleshot the problem; loose battery connections. Got it started, and I can fix that on Saturday...12-9-12 no Sunday poker; Food For Lane County. Great...12-10-12; yeah so I'm totally sober for a Monday. Went and got "foot-mapped" by Dr. Scholl at Wal-Mart. I'm CF 430. Bought them for $45, and they work really well in both pairs of shoes. I may have to do an infomercial for Dr. Scholl...12-18 to 12-28 I left town, and did lots of walking in the snow...I did not wear my watch for 10 days...When we came home, there were 0 messages on our answering machine; nice...I should go back and dig out my 'confused and complicated' comedy rant about what women like...The older lady in seat 5B from Denver to Eugene...It's important to clean out a closet once per year--there's no telling what's in there...Happy Camp at Eldorado NYE with RayBob tending bar. Met fellow halo Fletch; cool guy...

Pinball and Golden Tee stuff: 12-4-12; finally broke 100K on the upright Defender game, and scored a 65,550 on Pole Position...12-5-12; Best $5 Pinball Tournament Ever! Andy was 1st, I was 2nd, Erik was 3rd...12-6-12; I just lost Pizza Pipeline as the sponsor of my pinball tournament (and Murphy was fired). And; 134K on Defender...12-7-12 Fri. 598 on Black Hole pinball early. Derek + Ryker beat me later...12-12-12; Wednesday Pinball Knights: I won it, Kevin came in 2nd, Michael was 3rd...Monday eve 12-17-12; just in case the world ends--I played some games before leaving town: 65,500 on Pole Position, 2 mil on Devil's Dare pinball, 70K on Defender, 400K on old Star Trek pinball, 400K also on Firepower pinball; but crashed and burned on Black Hole pinball...12-19 and 12-26; we weren't here...So?..12-29-12, first day back at the arcade--still not smoking. 1st race back at Pole Position: 65,500 (Ha!)...

Grammar: Please and thank you...

New foods this month: some Portland beer; McTarninsomething Hum Bug'r is good...The Pyramid collection is very tasty, too. I really like the Apricot Ale; it's my house beer now...

This month of Blues Jamming: I haven't been in weeks; didn't go on 12-6-12 either...12-7-12 went by Happy Hours at 9 to see a little Heavy Chevy. Darcy sings, Michael J. on harp., Janie on sax, T. Mart bass, Jimmy D drums, with Axel waiting to drum a set. Nice...12-13-12 was Static Girl's employee party--no Blues Jam...12-20-12; out of town...12-27-12; still out of town...Woo.

My trials and trib.s as a critical believer in the concept of God:

What's different here than in college town: The joke I wrote was written FOR me in a letter to the editor. After releasing 35 prisoners last week (some of them were Measure 11 offenders, which means harming children), 1 of those criminals was robbing a bank/arrested again in less than an hour. This week; a different guy who was giving under-age girls tattoos was locked up 'until further notice'. So (here's the joke); if you rape, or harm children--Oregon will set you free! But if you're scratching ink on rich high school girls, we'll lock you up and lose the key. It almost rhymes, too. You're welcome...Oregon girl's volleyball played in the final game of the national championship; good for them...

What's different here than dumbass Arizona: In Portland parents can be jailed for the crimes of their kids now. Like Joseph Charlton, the dad of the 11 + 7yr. olds who tried to car-jack that lady in the church parking lot...

How Does Your Garden Grow? (Tales from our community garden plot):

Life with Static Girl: My influence? Before me, she couldn't drink coffee. Now she not only drinks it, but she'll even drink the dark, disgusting swill that I make--when I'm really pissed off and hurting. More? I've also influenced her into eating food right out of the cooking container it was prepared in--without even looking for a bowl. Ha. That's my girl...12-13-12 was Static Girl's employee party. I met comedy/magician Hart Keene--he's cool...Like most women, she has gained a lot of weight over time. Since 1997, she is about 2 lbs. heavier now...Over Christmas break she got her fingernails painted green, which is weird. Also; I participated in a wine tasting, which is just goofy. Out of character, huh?..

My FCP has this for me: She likes my ideas for dress-up and such. Yum...

Comments From The Peanut Gallery: I read about Elephant Poop coffeee in the newspaper...Buses have been recording riders for years; audio and video. And just this month people are now upset about it. People are dumb...99% of sports shoes bought in America are imports. Americans buy an average of 8 pairs of shoes per year; ha...

A thought to take with you: "It's a bullshit three-ring circus sideshow of freaks here in this hopeless fucking hole we call L.A.. The only way to fix it is to flush it all away. Any fucking time; any fucking day. Learn to swim; see you down in Arizona Bay."--Tool "Aenema"

"I believed in evolution until yesterday. We're all still screaming monkeys shitting into our hands and throwing it at each other."--Facebook comment from "JN".

"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life."--Winston Churchill (via Shirley Manson)

Oregon Bumper Stickers: "The Only Bush I Trust Is My Own"

Band names: Mouse Poop, "Holiday" to "Holidaisy" (stripper name; or Holly Daisy, fuck, I don't care at this point),

My trials and trib.s as a critical believer in the concept of God:

What's different here than in college town: Tiny's boyfriend's band is named The Dry Humps...

What's different here than dumbass Arizona: Oregon's minimum wage went up to $8.95 per hour on 1-1-13; how much do you make?..

How Does Your Garden Grow? (Tales from our community garden plot): Garlic as a boundary might keep rodents out. Marigolds help to determine what bugs have invaded...

Life with Static Girl: Have I said this before? She is a can of black beans, and I am a can of dark red kidney beans...1-26-13; she trudged through the snow + ice, uphill both ways, to Staples, to get me paper to print my 80's Trivia stuff...

This Month of bargain-shopping (Dollar Tree, Cash King, Big Lots, etc.): Incense. I need to make a big run...

I'm going to clean out my 90's wardrobe and trash most of my old radio-wear...I LIKE doing the wrap-around 420; that's when 4:20 AM rolls around, cool and dark, and you load your bong up and go have a little water-based therapy session outside...2-17-13; Poker. 2 tables, 12 people. sober Mike K. won, sober John 2nd, Shannon 3rd...I bought a $3 kitchen timer to be our new poker timer, ha! Pinball and Golden Tee stuff: 1-2-13; new #3 score on Pole Position (I have the top 12 now)...1-3-12; (found a $10 bill on the floor), then scored a new current #1 on Pole Position; 65,610...2-5-13 new pinball rankings are out; I am #354 in the world, baby!..2-6-13 Pinball Knights; 2 tournaments, I took 1st and 3rd; not bad. Also got the new qualifying record on Pole Position; 55:51...2-7-13, ordered my IFPA shirt while massively hungover...2-13-13 Pinball Knights. 10 people on 5 games; (top 6) Andy, Ben, Tom, Kevin/Sam, me...2-20-13 Pinball Knights. 13 fucking people; what the crap am I supposed to do with 13 fucking people? Go home, you worthless morons. I'm going to start cutting it off after the first 8 people. Our Kevin won, Sam 2nd, new Kevin 3rd, Andy 4th...2-27-13 Eugene Pinball Knights. 8 people--like I like it. Kevin won again, Tom 2nd, Will 3rd, Clark 4th. I also got the new high score on Star Trek pinball; 943,820, then brought home a case of Sleigh'r beer...I have the top 13 scores on Pole Position; ha!..

Grammar: I really just don't care anymore.

New foods this month: Pizza Saturday, and then Pizza Superbowl Sunday, too!..BEER; Third Shift beer, by Coors, from Texas, with a brewery in Trenton, Oregon. Yum...Base Camp beer from Portland is just stupid...Portland Brewing Rose Hip Gold beer is very good, too...Henry Weinhardt's Blue Boar is pretty decent. This month of Blues Jamming: 2-7-12; wow, I was there? I cabbed home smartly...

My trials and trib.s as a critical believer in the concept of God: Forget it. God no longer cares.

What's different here than in college town: (2-21-13) 106 Inmates Released Early from Lane County Jail Last Week...

What's different here than dumbass Arizona: We've got a 'Keep right' driving law proposal. Oregon state senator Ginny Burdick says "If you're not passing, stay out of the left lane. It's really not that hard."...

How Does Your Garden Grow? (Tales from our community garden plot): Maybe next month...

Life with Static Girl: For Valentine's Day (Thursday) I did house-cleaning, bought her chocolate, and did not ask for sex (or even an extra kiss). Plus; I found something that I really wanted, bought it for myself, and put a tag on it that said 'to boyfriend-from Static Girl'. It was her DREAM Valentine's ThursDay! And I was rewarded well on Friday, baby!..What/Who does my girlfriend look like? I get that question often. Perhaps I've been trying too hard--the answer is very obvious. My girlfriend looks like a pale Jessica Alba, and I am GOOD with that!..

My FCP has this for me: She is waiting patiently to be impressed by me, and I am not performing well right now...

Comments From The Peanut Gallery: The Carnival Cruise ship Triumph was dead in the water w/4000 people on it...Reader’s Digest files for bankruptcy...AZ Court Rules Traces of Marijuana Get You a DUI...U. S. adults average 11% of their calories from fast food...

April 2013

(...last month we were...)

Reading: http://www.silverbearcafe.com/private/02.13/gritty.html, http://www.fredoneverything.net/Abroad.shtml, http://www.rollingstone.com/music/pictures/readers-poll-the-10-best-nine-inch-nails-songs-20130313, I'll read the "Who Knew?" book about money-saving advice and stuff...

Watching: I am TIRED of this DVR dumping my programs. So on the THIRD phone call to DirecTv I finally got some answers. Customer service has gone out the fucking window on everything--maybe THAT'S why I can't find work anymore. These idiots doing my jobs now would not have lasted a week back in the 90's...We did have a 3-day preview of HBO + Cinemax at the end of the month...

Class Projects: NOVA, Mythbusters, Castle, Bones, Who's Your (Oregon) Farmer, Warehouse 13, Dr. Who,

movies together: No.

Shit I watch alone: I watch The Following every Monday--I haven't missed an episode yet. I don't watch The Following because it's the best show on tv--it's not. I watch The Following because every episode, every week, has the POTENTIAL to be the best show ever put on television. It always falls short, which is to be expected from network television, but that show has legs that COULD run like Usain Bolt...Documentaries on John Wayne Gacy and Robert Joe Long...Documentaries on John Belushi and Animal House were great..."A Place At The Table" is a new food documentary I want to see..."Doctored" is supposed to be a great documovie on the medical situation in the US...

Comedians: Recorded, but not yet watched

Crappy cable movies: "Machete" (recorded in February, watched 3-1-13), "Offspring" (dumbass movie, and ZERO Offspring music), "Miami Blues", "Dirty Teacher",

Play it Again's: Scarface, Suicide Kings, Manhunter, Thirteen, Sicko,

Watching and Hearing: This beer I kind of like, Third Shift, has commercials running during Sportscenter and Dr. Who; that's cool...Has anybody gone to this "lumosity.com" thing and checked out the brain games?..Ben Folds 5 on Guitar Center Sessions...

Now with faster than dial-up internet; Youtubing: standard stuff

Hearing: my desk-discs have not changed...

New on the radio; New Filter album June 4th, 2013...Bowie's The Next Day (first new music in 10 years)

Musical Purchases this month from the Tom Tucker discount wall at Skip's Records And CDWorld; my future place of employment, and permanent Barbie Dream Home: nothing here. Record Store Day is 4-20 tho.

Out and About: repeats of loops at BK and Carl's Jr...

Singing: "In and Out"--Van Hagar, "Renegades of Funk"--Rage Against The Machine, "Zero"--Smashing Pumpkins, "Grip and Pull"--me/Downtrodden, "Justify My Love"--Madonna, "Hurt"--NIN, "Turn To Stone"--ELO, "Der Kommissar"--After The Fire/Falco,

What I want today: I want my driver's side van door fixed for good!..I'd like to write 2 more commentaries, but I just don't give a shit about it: 1 about American idea supremacy, because WE are an "IDEA" country--other countries have kids who do the work on our ideas: (inspired by <1> Matt Ginsberg, CEO of On Time Systems in Eugene Wednesday 3-13-13's Opinion piece "Time For Us To Collect On Our Debt Over Information", <2> Fred Reed's ongoing reminders of American ingenuity, and <3> the FEB 2013 cover of Wired Magazine that says "One Massive Idea Can Change The World. Here are 7." Yeah; so have a 10-yr. old Indonesian kid write that thing (ha)...The other commentary I want to write is about how people stand in line for 10 minutes at fast food places, staring at the upper board menu, then they get to the counter and they're all like "Uhhhhhh, I don't know." Okay Dick+Janewad, you've been gazing at the prize for 600 seconds with your mouth open. It's not like this is buying a new car; in fact, just by being here you are showing your LACK of decision-making abilities. Other people are fucking waiting here (me), and (with my coupon, or plan intact) I KNEW what I was going to order before I even entered this fake "restaurant". Now; IF you were entertaining, like that Mad Tv skit of the indecisive Ms. Swan at Starbucks, maybe I'll give you a minute. But you're just stupid, AND slow, and not nearly as cute as either Mo Collins or Alex Borstein, so hurry the F up! (We're going to need another 10 yr. old Indonesian writer over here.)...

New stuff this month or so: "Darkside" Skittles; oh yes, I will be trying them on...Iron Maiden is in the beer business! They will have "Trooper" beer available soon!..There's a new Evil Dead movie coming out; no, I don't know why...Carl's Jr. (that I love) now has Jim Beam Bourbon bacon pepperjack cheeseburgers, and I am in lust...I went and saw the movie "Spring Breakers" because it was supposed to be disturbing and dark (like "Kids"), with lots of sex, nudity and violence (Like "Kids"). It was not like Kids; unbelievable plot, bad acting--and those were the 2 best points...

This Month of bargain-shopping (Dollar Tree, Cash King, Big Lots, etc.): not much

Occupational Hazards: 3-5-13, TU. There was nobody in the arcade for almost an hour (4-5 pm). It was MY arcade; MY music, MY pinball--life was gooood!..There soon may be a new beer available at the arcade. ONLY, and EXCLUSIVELY at our arcade--I'm not kidding; it's to be called "Special When Lit". Just wait...I like to mop to 4 jukebox songs; Fascination Street, Add It Up, New World Order, Dead Souls...The arcade keeps screwing with the floors/walls, and (as of 3-16) I'm sick--so I get frustrated really easily...

Personal shit for my own memory banks this month: I haven't been keeping track of how my left shoulder keeps improving ever so slightly. But I have at least 90% full range of motion again, and that makes me happy...My belt tightened up another loop again. And I am happy, yes, but need to tighten up one more loop to get my weight back to the low 190's...3-7-13 TH, finally got over to Grand Royal Automotive to see if Wade could fix my van door. Yes he can/did. It was easy. The other $180+ I spent was just wasted funds. Wade was only going to charge me $25; I paid him $40+, and will pay him more when I see him again...I'm tired of my DVR screwing up everything. It will get better now!..Friday night, 3-15-13, I laid in bed and coughed for 5 hours. Bad. Then got the ear infection Saturday, and am now fully sick...Finally saw the Dr. Tues. 3-19-13, ear infection, deep cough. Got antibiotics, maybe we'll get better now (4 days without a cigarette). I am tired of being sick...Ear Infection Wednesday (day 4) I took the usual night of bathroom cleaning off. It's amazing how clean our bathrooms are--even with 7 days of no cleaning. I'm a decent housewife...Snooze button shenanigans; I set the ear infection alarm for 11 am on a Saturday (to get to the arcade by 1 pm); but did not get out of bed until 6 pm (7 hours later). How does a person do that?..In other similar news; I do remote viewing from my bed sometimes--in between snoozes...Since dropping down to 3.1 mil in Zynga poker chips on 2-10-13, I am back up to 5 million by 3-27-13 (gained roughly $2 million in 6 weeks)...My gout medicine is not perfect; often I can still feel tinges of pain in both feet. But this slight pain is a good reminder of just how lucky I am to have any medicine at all...After 14 days of an ear infection, and all medicine taken, it's obvious that my body is building a resistance to amoxicllin. I hope there are stronger drugs for my next ear infection...Against Dr.'s orders (no exercise), I have been exercising a bit...Around 3-30-13, I went old-school and chewed the shit out of my left thumb. It bled a little, and has scars now. (I'm not a cutter; I'm a chewer!) Nice...

Pinball and Golden Tee stuff: (Facebook post) 3-6-23; Eugene Pinball Knights was great, as always, and we had 2 new people! Sam Van Rooy helped run things and came in 4th, Chandler Hammerstrom got his $5 back in 3rd, Tom was there till the end in 2nd, and the 'even a blind rat' finding $20 of cheese tonight was Clark in 1st. Woo. Join us every Wed.s @ 8 pm for THE ONLY WEEKLY PINBALL LEAGUE in Eugene, OR; the Eugene Pinball Knights--at Blairally! 245 Blair, in da Whit...3-8-13 Friday; I fixed 2 pinball machines, and won over 20 credits on 6 total machines with Ryker; amazing! 7 credits on ONE BALL of Star Trek, ha!..3-13-13: Eugene Pinball Knights was excellent tonight--we even had a male/female final! Sergio did his best yet and came in 4th, Clark got his $5 back for 3rd place, Gen Schaack (beat Clark twice, and) came in 2nd; Tom beat Gen in the finals to win his first Wednesday! Wednesday Knights @ 8 pm is the $5 pinball tournament @ Blairally. Never mind what you've heard, come and see it for yourself--next Wednesday, 8 pm!..3-20-13; (Facebook post) Eugene Pinball Knights was fantastic, as always, AND we had 2 new awesome ladies tonight! Conni did her best yet--and came in 4th, Derek got his $5 back for 3rd, Andrew pulled down 2nd place (because of an unfortunate tilt on Firepower), making Clark the big winner in 1st. Come and join us next Wednesday at 8 pm for THE ONLY WEEKLY PINBALL TOURNAMENT IN EUGENE; the Eugene Pinball Knights, at Blairally! 245 Blair, in da Whit!..3-21-13; TH, just so you know, I went to the arcade (sick), and played 6 different pinball machines over 2 hours. I never won a credit, no extra balls, no matches, nothing. It can happen to anybody...3-27-13; Eugene Pinball Knights was great tonight--and we had 2 tournaments! 14 people participated--even a couple of cool women! My scoring screw-ups were minimal, but relevant. Chandler played an extra round, and beat Sam, and then played Kevin anyway. Chandler came in 4th, Kevin won back Andy's $5 investment for 3rd, then Andy pulls down $20 for 2nd, and Tom rakes in $45 for 1st place! Tom won the winner's bracket, then beat Andy again in the first game of the finals!
The side tournament was to play 1 game of Star Trek for replays--$1 per game; matches count, 1 extra ball per game allowed. Clark was the only person to pop 3 replays (Andy had 2), and won $19.

Grammar: Holy shit, people. I was wrong/am wrong/would have continued to be wrong, and am VERY lucky that I did not lose any money on a bet about this: The word is "acoustic", and I have spelled it with 2 "c"'s my entire life, as 'accoustic'. The stupid fact that many/most musicians also spell it with 2 c's is NO excuse! I do not know how many times it is MISspelled on this website, but I bet there's at least a handful. And I am sorry. Now go back to your life...

New foods this month: Not new, but I am keeping salad in the fridge, constantly. I'd like to eat a salad every day...St. Pauli Beer is evil. Do NOT drink it--it's a worse hangover than Moosehead...Right; so I usually buy the store-brand KC-style bbq sauce. Fred Meyer was out of it, so I (paid more, and) got real, live "KC Masterpiece". This is the best shit ever! I'm gonna try it on broccoli!..Fred Meyer's own Chocolate Almond Milk; yum. And lots of healthy cereals...

This month of Blues Jamming: 3-7-13; I didn't go. Did not feel good, with my St. Pauli hangover...3-14-13; Z-Bass + Ra on 1 guitar, Mark the Harp, JP, Gary (Valley Boy) drums. 2 was JT bass, Morgan + Herb guitars, Mark the Harp, Jimmy D drums. 3 was Z-Bass, Ra on 1 guitar--then Fuchs (bartender) jumps in on drums! Then Jimmy D drums, and Sheila White sang very well. 4 was Jason bass, Max + Ra guitars, JP, Jimmy D drums...3-21-13; ear infection--no Jam...3-28-13; didn't go...

My trials and trib.s as a critical believer in the concept of God: are we still doing this? I haven't heard from God in months.

What's different here than in college town: 700 inmates have been freed locally in Oregon this year...Here in Eugene we've got 3 policeperps in trouble for stealing guns, jewelry and drugs from the police storage. Good for them...Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden wants to legalize hemp, and that's a good idea...Springfield OR has the #1 high school female basketball recruit in Mercedes Russell (go girl)...

What's different here than dumbass Arizona: Table dances at The Candy Store in Phoenix were only $5. Private dances here at The Silver Dollar are $20. Boo...In Phoenix, and in Athens GA, pregnant smoking mothers are encouraged to puff all they want. But here in Oregon, there are actual classes and county help to get pregnant women to stop smoking. Wow!..

How Does Your Garden Grow? (Tales from our community garden plot): soon...

Life with Static Girl: When she dies, I will drag her corpse around for days to make people feel how soft her skin is. I'm serious...3-9-13; taking her to Peace Love And Pottery for a late Christmas present. This just in: Art is hard!..She got a new P O Box for her postcard stuff. The first postcard sent to her box was for ME! Well; she sent me one--to her new P O Box. Never mind...Many of my old clothes that I had designated for donation were kept by her. I like that...Her georgeous silvered hair is getting longer! Some of it is starting to clog up the shower drain again--I couldn't be more proud!..

My FCP has this for me: She's still hanging in there--waiting for me to impress her...That remote viewing I do from my bed sometimes usually involves her. I'm just sayin'...

Comments From The Peanut Gallery: Things you DON'T hear on the news; George Bush inherited a budget surplus. Then he lowered the taxes on the rich, and started 2 wars with borrowed money. Obama became president in 2009 with a huge deficit; and although Barak hasn't done nearly enough, he HAS cut the deficit by over $500 billion. Bite me...CNN is reporting a toddler has been fully cured of HIV...SHOCK: 80% Of Recent NYC High School Graduates 'Cannot Read' (3-7-13)...There Are Now Roughly 142.2 Million Workers Supporting 102.6 Million Not Working, Global Image of America (WRH 3-14-12)... The Stuebenville rape verdict tosses tragedy at the football players, but not at the raped woman. Media people are stupid...1 in 50 kids has autism; so?..The European province of Cyprus has gone bankrupt, I guess, and the government is stealing the savings accounts of citizens...3-30-13; Half of Christians Think Jesus Will Return Within 40 Years (WRH)...American Airlines and US Airways have merged...3-31-13; a news story brief haunted me: a man (Joseph Brown) arrested for shooting 4 people earlier this month near Coney Island has been released from prison. He shot 4 people, but THAT'S not enough to keep him in jail?

A thought to take with you: "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots."--Albert Einstein

"Kiss first, then ask questions later. Grope first, then apologize later."--Me

What's different here than dumbass Arizona: Eugene starts a plastic grocery bag ban on 5-1-13; when is YOUR town going to start doing that?..I drought it; Eugene is going through it's driest time in 13 years--great!..

How Does Your Garden Grow? (Tales from our community garden plot): We planted stuff, twice, and the droughtiness of Oregon is in full swing. We are the plant-killers right now. Stay tuned.

Life with Static Girl: She is a patient and tolerant woman; I don't know how she puts up with me...I wrote her the best note ever: I like you, Have some alone time, Dinner in micro, bowl in fridge...She wrote me back a great note: I'll pay the bills if you'll buy me some booze...Laying her backpack against the back wheel of my bike somehow fixed my back wheel rotation problem; X-Files style...I am much less sad with her..."Focus." is what she whispers to me when I begin to go off on a tangent mid-sentence...She has, again, done the nicest thing a girl can do for her man. Oh no, I'm not telling you what. If you know me, then you can ask me. Ha!..

My FCP has this for me: she sometimes answers e-mails, and sometimes not. She's cool like that.

Comments From The Peanut Gallery: A national Pew Research Center poll released Thursday (4-4-13) shows the majority of Americans support pot legalization 52% to 45%...In the week since Exxon's tar sands spill in Arkansa, their CEO has made $700,000 and received a safety award. Nice...Rat-sized giant snails in Florida...1 in 6 US citizens struggles with hunger...85% of US households still have a traditional television hook-up...

A thought to take with you: "I fell in love with your personality. Your looks are just a bonus."

"Genius don't happen on decaf."--My Mom's Mother's Day card

Bonus note on shit I watch alone: I haven't seen Matt Frewer in years. But now he's the head bad guy on Orphan Black, and I just saw him (while channel-surfing) in 2 DIFFERENT episodes of cable cop shows (Law + Order, SVU, etc.). I'm glad he is still working. Then he gave me a pot brownie, too...5-29-13; new van rehab day! Back to Grand Royal to get my brakes fixed, brake pedal fixed, leaky tire plugged, and a Camaro steering wheel cover for the van! Thanks Wade!..I have been having some extreme thoughts lately. Exercise and attitude, employment; how do I move to the next level? What is the next level? 46 + 2 just keeps running through...This month of May, and the first few days of June have gotten me some quality attention from some new (and old) sources. I just have to smile and say 'Yea, this happens to me all the time.' I have quit exercise-walking for now (as of 5-20-13), and we'll see what the next few weeks bring. A thought to take with you: I'm kind of proud of this Facebook post on 5-6-13: "Okay; since I am under the weather, I get to vent: I don't care about your Cayman Islands business headquarters; if you SELL SHIT in America, then you PAY TAXES in America. Period. How hard is this shit, people? Next up; build some more mutherfucking prisons already! Next up; an "obesity tax": Add $1 to every entree sold in a fast-food restaurant; use this money to teach kids to NOT eat that shit. Problems solved. Now go fuck yourself.
