Growing Into You

I'd like to sod you in a tomato cage
Watch the tripod prongs hold you loosely in place
As you reach for the sky, or a kiss from me
Your face about waist-high; how sweet would that be?

I would nurture you--maybe more than I should
And sprinkle you daily; make sure your soil's good
I'd speak to you sweetly; keep your plot serene
And love you completely--my sweet stem of green.

Gardeners come and go at random, yet I
Will encourage you to grow, but stay close-by
I'll get hands-on, for sure; remember this chant:
From your roots--to your fruits, I want the whole plant.
